House of Bricks Reflection

My favourite Lego activity was the mosaics because it brought out my artistic side and I liked doing my own designs and that we had a choice if we wanted to do colours or black white and red and it was very interesting.

My least favourite Lego activity was pass the bricks because it was nothing what I wanted it to look like when I got it back at the end. I felt like people knew what it was but I felt like they were just destroying it. I could see that the year 5s and years 6s were trying to do a good job but the year 7-8s I feel like they just didn’t want to put any effort into it and were just destroying it and didn’t even care about it and they just added random stuff to it. I was trying to make a water slide park but when I got it back I didn’t know what it was any more and it looked horrible in the end.

The activity that tested my perseverance the most was the cars because when it wouldn't work  my partner and I wouldn’t complain about it or just sulk that we got it wrong we continued to fix it and made it better. It ended up going far but not really that far we didn’t win but it was really fun just doing it.

The most challenging activity was the cars because we had to go backwards and forwards to many times and it was hard to make it go far.

I enjoyed not enjoy working collaboratively with others because I like doing my own designs and I wanted to work by myself so I could do my own thing.

An Everything Explanation

Kia ora and Welcome back to my blog. This week for writing  I am showing you how to make an explanation. For an explanation you want to make people get on your side and for them to agree with you on it. If you say we should not have to go to school early then you would want people to agree with you so you need reasons why they should agree with you and you need to be convincing and sound confident in what you are saying. Anyway I hope you like my create for this week.

do you know what to do when you are writing an explanation?

Marvellous maths

Kia ora and Welcome back to my blog. This week in Maths we were learning divide a byes and times tables. I thought that it was going to be easy but some of them where hard. Here is a tip for doing times tables, Times tables means groups of so if I had 2x5=, then I could just go 2 groups with five in it. 2x5=10. Here is a tip for divide a bys , you can just draw circles of how many people are getting it and you can put a dot in everyone until you get up to the number. I hope that you like my create for this week.

Perfect pick a path

Kia ora and Welcome back to my blog. This week for maths I did a pick a path. The questions seem really easy so you should probably be able to get them. There are some tricky ones in there you might want to get a piece of paper a pencil and a rubber to help you work it out there are six questions in there so there isn't that much questions to work out. I really feel like that I understood my goals for this week and that I did a good job of the pick a path. I hope that you enjoy doing it.

What was the easiest question for you?

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog. This week for maths we were learning about timetable and division. Wonderful writing

Kia ora and welcome back to my blog. This week for Writing we had to create a static image that is not stereotyping. We learned about lots of stereotypes one is that girls should have long hair and boys should have short hair. Me having short hair myself I think that it is really rude and may be offensive to other people. Another one is that girls favourite colour should be pink and a boys favourite colour should be blue. Also my favourite colour is green I think that no one should be able to speck for someone else if there favourite colour is red you shouldn´t  say no your favourite colour should be pink. Here is my work work for this week I hope you like it.

What do you think about stereotypes?

But when you are having a fight with someone you need to be the bigger person and say sorry even if it may not be your fault you just need to be the bigger person. Here is my create for this week.

 What is your friendship like?

Fantastic Fractions

Kia ora Welcome back to my blog or Welcome to my blog. This week in maths we were looking at fractions. To me fractions are fairly easy, but to other people they are a bit harder. What I do when I work out fraction I draw boxes and then put one number into each box until there are no more numbers left. It is probably the easiest way to solve fractions. If you don't know what I am talking about then you can look at how I worked out the fractions in my slideshow.

Do you like fractions?

Umbrella

Hi welcome back to my blog this week at school for writing we were looking at a video called Umbrella what happens is that there a girl and her mum going to a orphanage to donate some toys. The writing was about empathy. Empathy is putting yourself in someone else's shoes

The Yellow Umbrella

As dawn broke through, the smooth dark oak door to Miss Elem’s Home for Children slowly creaked open. The little girl with the bright kowhai umbrella timidly entered the orphanage before finding a place to rest her umbrella. Not wanting to be spotted, Boris quickly turned his head around the door frame so that he was hidden from sight. Standing off to the side, the girl watched the happy and joyful scene as the kids searched in the box for more hidden jewels. The girl smiled as she watched the young boy buzz around the room like a bee. Her smile faded in a blink of an eye as she looked at the umbrella stand and all she saw were puddles. Her precious umbrella had disappeared.

 Are you empathetic?

Margaret Mahy

On the 20th of May we went to Margaret Mahy,

Victoria square, we fed the tuna,

went on a waka,

found 3 Māori mats and we did some rubbings.

At Victoria Square we drew a pou and went to look at all of the signs that said

what the Māori mats were for,

we learnt what all of the Māori mats meant.

My favourite part of the trip was the waka.

It was really fun, first we got into two groups and found a partner in the group.

Once you got a partner you would stand beside each other.

After that we got the paddles and learnt how to use them.

It was very easy to use them.

After we got in the waka and sat on one side of the waka then we started paddling.

I was so excited it was so fun paddling. We were in the waka for so long it was such a fun activity.

Something I learnt was that the black paving around the park has a song engraved

into it and it has lots of stories

behind all the carvings.

We found somewhere to sit down and go

on the black pavement and did some rubbings

It was so fun learning about the carvings on the black pavement.

Another thing that I learned was

that eels have teeth and when they take the food

there teeth scrape against the spoon.

The thing I found the most interesting was

when we looked at the Māori mats it was so interesting finding out what all of the Māori mats meant.

Mrs Bryce

told us that if there was an earthquake then the mat would be fine and some builders would be able

to take it

out of the ground and find another place for the mat to go.

That was

the thing I found most interesting.

This trip has helped me with my PBL because in Victoria Square there were many interesting pou.

  I think

the reason that we went there

was so the teachers could get ideas for what we

could put around our school.

Marvellous Maths Strategies

Hi this week in maths we were learning how to do place value and tidy numbers to solve subtraction problems.

It was fun making this but some I had to rush to get it done. I hope that you enjoy this slide show and learn how to do tidy numbers and maths.

Nō hea koe? Ko wai tō ingoa?
